Barnetta Anderson, 91 of Tucson Arizona, died September 3, 2019. Cremation has been accorded and a private interment of the cremated remains will take place at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family.
Barnetta Anderson born on 9/3/28, Barnetta was the daughter of Sheriff Fred Swanson and wife Maude Swanson of Cambridge Illinois. Her only Brother Frederick, Bill, Swanson, now deceased meant so much to her. Both graduated from Cambridge High School and Barnetta from the University of Arizona in 1950.
She married Gene Anderson, now deceased, the same year and subsequently spent a year in Germany with the military occupational forces.
Those surviving are sons Jeff (Elaine) Anderson, and Ted (Julie) Anderson of Tucson Arizona and her grandson Hunter Anderson of Telluride Colorado.
Barnetta was employed nearly 35 years in the criminal justice system. She was allegedly the first woman police officer for the Tucson police department. She was a probation officer in both the juvenile and adult system in Tucson and San Mateo county California. Barnetta was also the first woman appointed by Governor Raúl Castro, to the Arizona Board of Pardons and Parole. Her many interests included different world cultures and visiting tribes in Africa, the Amazon and other sites of interest.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Casa De Los Abuelos Care Home or Emblem Hospice. The family would like to thank them for the excellent care they provided to Barnetta during her final days.
