Mike grew up in Sun Mine, a small rural town in western Pennsylvania. Mike was the oldest of three children and enjoyed having his many aunts and uncles at gatherings where, while they were playing music and singing, many childhood friends and cousins played together.

Mike had a passion for cars. He loved to attend the races and rebuild cars. He worked on and rebuilt several cars over the years.

Probably influenced from his childhood, Mike had a passion for music. He played in several country music and rock bands such as "Dirty Nelly" and "Mikey and The Maniacs." His musical passion led to him meeting and marrying his wife, Gina, on December 30, 2008.
